Hey everybody. It's been a while since I posted on here, glad to see the site is still here.
Wanted to check in on the current status of SSD compatibility with Phatnoise/Phathack DMS tools. Last time I recall reading a thread there was an issue with the Phatnoise hanging when you tired to use any of the few models that had an IDE connector, and when I searched I didn't see anything updating to the contrary.
I've got a spare Phatnoise player that has no cable or DMS. I was thinking I'd like to try building a new DMS and flashing it to Kenwood firmware so I can grab a Kenwood cable and attach it to a Kenwood head unit. Easy enough right? Well the vehicle I want to stick this spare unit in is a Jeep Wrangler that I use offroad and there's no way a standard IDE HD would survive. I can figure out how to isolate the unit from shock to some degree, but the only way it's not going to eat HDs for breakfast lunch and dinner is if it's a SSD I think. I don't own and SSDs right now and I don't want to chuck down that much money on the aging Phatnoise platform just to give it a shot if I don't know for sure the drive will work. I like Phatnoise though and would rather spend the money to get a SSD and cable than buy some other mp3 player though.
Thanks in advance for any updates on SSD in the phatnoise.
