I hit "sync" in PMM 3.51. I don't have any playlist saved anywhere but once the sync was finished it put 16 of them on there? Which is really weird because none of them have any music on them and I don't/didn't make any playlist anywhere on my PC? I was basically wanting to get all of my music onto my DMS which is a little over 80gb and almost 14,000 songs.

I'm trying to find the best/easiest/fastest way to keep up with all of the music I'm adding to my collection. I'm really not sure how this is going to turn out because the music is now copying over to the DMS and it looks like its going to take a LONG time!

My main reason for trying the sync was just to get the music onto the DMS and then make my playlist from there.

Is this what everyone else is doing or is there a better/easier way of doing this?

Are you under the impression that every time you make a change to the playlists in PMM, that PMM will then recopy ALL of your music to the DMS?
This isn't the case. PMM will only update those files that have changed, or have been added or deleted.

Point PMM to your PCs music folder. Create your playlists in PMM. Add the playlists to your DMS. Then save/eject your DMS. Come back when it's done.
From then on whenever you add or change a playlist in PMM (and your DMS), only that CD has to be copied over to the DMS, so the process will be much quicker.

Here are some thing you can do to lessen the impact of copying songs to the DMS:
1. Get a USB 2.0 cradle.
2. Remove the drive from the DMS and hook it directly to your computers IDE bus with a 2.5" to 3.5" IDE adapter.
3. Drink less coffee.

The IDE adapter 2.5" to 3.5" sounds like a great idea.  Do you recommend any type?

Yes I do... CHEAP.

These adaptors have no electronics, just physical electrical connections from the two cables (PC IDE / Molex Power) to the laptop plug ...
