What's the difference? mp3 & mp3 (Lame)?

I'm trying to convert some FLAC files and the program using has the option for mp3 (LAME). I've heard of it but I've never used it. All of my music is in the mp3 format, which I'd like to stay with.

Also, if someone knows of a program to convert multiple FLAC files at once to mp3. Let me know!

LAME is considered by most to be the best MP3 encoder out there. dbPowerAmp is an all around great tool for converting audio files.  It also uses LAME as it's MP3 encoder and it is installed by default.  You'll have to download (from the dbPowerAmp site) and install the FLAC codec seperately. If you're converting multiple folders at once, grab the DMC File Selector add-on. It's part of the PowerPack add-on I think. The PowerPack add-on is a thirty day trial.  Before running any conversions make sure you check all the setup properties to make sure that dbPowerAmp addes the appropriate tags to your MP3s .
