Would anyone out there happen to know if my new Z4 will accept my trusty Phatbox from my 2005 330i? I expect that I will need a new protocol converter (DSP?), but are there connectors for the external CD drive that I plug into?

Regarding your question, it depends on whether your car has an i-Bus interface for a CD changer or something new. BMW transitioned from the i-Bus to the MOST bus (fiber optic based) at various times, depending on the model. I'd expect the i-Bus to have been phased out by the time your Z4 was built, but I'm not up-to-date on newer BMW models.
