Differences Music Manager 2.30 & Media 3.92?
« on: August 07, 2006, 03:46:27 pm »
I was just looking at Phatnoise's website and began to wonder why they have 2 different programs. I'm currently using Media Manager 3.92, but since I only use it for Music should I just use the Music Manager 2.30?

Does one have more features than the other? Is one faster than the other when ejecting? Do I need to keep using the Media Manager 3.92 and I wouldn't know the difference?

Music Manager was the old name for Media Manager, they changed the name when they released v3.0 (if I remember correctly). I also use version 3.92 and I like it better than the 2.x versions. I think the interface in general is better, one of the big differences in version 3 is that it also supports video files for the devices that support video.

Another big difference is that 3.x apparently uses internal means to access the drive instead of the normal windows copy routines.   This means that large drives don't work right since that internal code can't handle large drives.  The 2.x version seems more stable in my experience but I liked the features in 3.x

Music manager also let you encode into different formats that media manager doesn't allow, such as .wav
