I tried to put a new HD in my DMS following step by step. Then I was getting CD-X error. I  put the good HD back in the cartridge and updated the firmware, now my Phatbox just stays on for hours until I unplug it. The green and red lights are working but stay on and the VW dosen't find the Phatbox. I tried a complete reset of the car too. By disconnecting the battery. HELP !!!!!!!!1

I don't know what CD-X errors are, or where in the process you got them.  My guess is that you got far enough along to copy the patch over to your original DMS.  Since you put the firmware update on the DMS as well, it may be stuck in a patch/firmware update loop.

First thing to try is deleting the forceupdate and forcesettings files from the original DMS, and then see if the patch will finish executing on the Phatbox.  I believe you have already started the process, so you might as well try to finish it.

If the patch still doesn't complete, you may need to corrupt one of the files on the DMS to make it happen.  A search on the term "aadec.sig" will give examples of how to do that.

Right, sorry.  Search "ramdisk.sig" not "aadec.sig."  It's been a while since I patched my PB.
