Replacing hard drive with a new one (HELP PLZ)

Hey guys,

I guess my DMS is broken now. I want to replace the original drive with a new one. Could I still flash the phatnoise unit itself even though my original drive doesn't work? I was reading how to install a new hd into the DMS cartridge and it says you need to install the software to hack or update the phatbox before installing the new hard drive into the DMS. Please let me know, I need to solve this as quickly as possible.

why do you say the original DMS is broken?

You must have a phatnoise DMS that works to apply the hack.  Thats why everyone should hack their box even if they are not switching drives just to be safe.
