make sure your usb cable is connected properly and your cradle powered.
Restart the procedure, do not deviate  ;D

Usb cradle is powered and connected. I read an earlier post about having problems with the kenwood cradles.Does anyone know is there is a fix for that yet? If not,can you point me to instructions on how to do it manually? ???

The insturctions on the manual patch is for after you've patched the phatbox. I still need to update the firmware on the phatbox.I can see the light at the end of the tunnel but i can't touch it!!! help!!!!

Ver. 1.4 & 1.5 cd works fine on the kenwood cradle. There maybe usb driver issue with your laptop you may try another computer if you do not want to do the manual method.

The manual method still requires using the boot disk and my problem is my machines freezes when I put the dms into the cradle.Let me start over and explain. I can boot to the disk and after the startup script it goes to the main screen. At the bottom before I insert the dms in green letters is "at input device keyboard ".Sorry I will run it again to get it all on what it says.Anyway when I insert the dms it will lock up and I have hold the power button to do a hard restart. If anyone has any clues to what is going on I will be very interested to hear from you. Also, my machine is a toshiba a65-s126 2.8ghz celeron.

Have you tried hooking up a PS/2 Keyboard to the computer?

The manual method doesn't require using the boot disk.  If you are using the info at http://wiki.phathack.com/Script_to_run_firmware_patch
This patch, to my knowledge, hasn't been updated along with the two images, so it will only disable the DMS key check. It won't perform any of the newer patches.  If all you want to do for now is use a larger drive, then it will work.
