As we are probably all aware now, the PhatNoise.com website seems to be 'being worked on'. Or it may well never see the light of day again.
With this, DailyPhat.com is also down.
DailyPhat.com was used by both PhatNoise Media Manager and the hack tools to source the latest, and archived versions of firmware.
As we have most (if not all) of these files right here at PhatHack.com, I spent a couple of hours this morning re-creating the file 'am.xml' used by the hack tools to enable you to create a new DMS applying the firmware correctly.
You will now be able to continue creating a new DMS using the latest version of the tools I have just uploaded, labelled v2.6 or above.
With this, I have added a few extra features - all of which are untested.
The new features are:
1. Reflash box with firmware
If you are swapping the firmware on your PhatBox (ie switching from VW Headunit to Kenwood Keg) then you should check this option. This forces the PhatBox to update the firmware.pac file required to ensure your headunit functions correctly.
In some cases where a firmware update was not necessary this option caused the phatbox to keep rebooting. If you have checked this option, and the box constantly reboots, then delete the files:
forceupdate
forcesettings
from PHTSYS\.
2. Update Firmware
To save a complete partitioning of your DMS, this new button on the toolbar allows you to perform the firmware download / extraction process only in exactly the same way as the new DMS creation process does. Assuming some of the core files aren't bigger, they should remain in the correct place on your DMS and your PhatBox should continue to function correctly.
That is if you have not used the option above, or you have and it doesn't cause problems.
If your DMS fails to function, you may need to perform a full partition (Create NEW DMS).
3. Install VIOT
Using the instructions taken from the WIKI (
http://wiki.phathack.com/VIOT) when everything else is done, this will extract the SSA files on to your DMS.
This option is only enabled for the Kenwood firmware.
If you decide to test some of these features, please let me know how you get on.
I personally have performed the VIOT installation (as I need to test the SSA mode files written by PhatHack Media Manager) and will be testing the results tonight.
