Small problem I'm having just trying to change the startup sound on my 20GB VW DMS.
following the instructions, I had this accomplished for some time, just by placing a .wav file in the tts folder, and adding the line 'startup_sound=/dos/tts/sound.wav' at the top of the phatbox.ini file, just under the line [Phatbox]

I was trying to change this to a selection of random files, per the instructions, and have not suceeded.  Where am I going wrong, this is what I tried...

placed a folder (starts) of .wav files in the tts folder.  Then typed the command: Startup_sound=rand:/dos/tts/starts at the top of the phatbox.ini file.
nothing plays at startup.

I think this got moved to the profiles.ini on the phtdta profiles directory.  Not sure 100 percent though...

QuoteStartup_sound=rand:/dos/tts/starts

You might need a trailing forward slash:

Startup_sound=rand:/dos/tts/starts/

Ok, I'll try these thing out, thanks.

Should the command be put at the biginning of the file, or under the specific VW headunit model I am using?

It needs to be under the [Phatbox] section in phatbox.ini.

Ok i just found this thread (I am reading the whole forum).

So let me ask the obvious question. It is possible to change the start up sound? I see there is a "Welcome to PhatNoise.mp3" and a text file labled "WelcomeFileName.txt" and another "WelcomeFileText.txt"

I don't need random, i just want to change the start up sound to the Mazda Zoom Zoom Zoom song clip. Can i just change the text files to match the song file?

I suppose, i could just record a new file to the same specs, label it the same, and replace the stock phatnoise sound. i Imagine it wouldnt know the difference???

I guess i answered my own question....

Yes you can change the file name in the ini or make a new file with that file name.
