THis has been a long downward spiral.
First, I wasn't able to get the patch to work on the phatbox.  (got it)
Then, I wasn't able to read from the new DMS
Now the Phatbox is not recognized by the headunit.

This is for VW edition.  I just get the message, 'No changer'
I had the battery disconnected while working on the car, and after putting the radio code in, 'No changer'

So I can't even get the phatbox recognized, and now I can't get frustrated about the DMS not working!

Shall I just disconnect the battery again, and start over?
DMS was not in with battery disconnected...

Is there a problem with the earth wire? I know on mine I get a "No CHanger" message" if the leads earth wire is not connected (to earth)... did it come off/was it disconnected/broken when you were doing things?

If you had the battery disconnected and just hooked everything up again, it can be that you just need to reinitialize the phatbox connection to the head unit.  Turn the head unit off, then disconnect the cable from the back of the phatbox.  Make sure the DMS is already installed, then after a few seconds reconnect the cable.  The lights should turn on for a few seconds and then off.  With luck, when you turn on the head unit again it should recognize the phatbox.

Ok, Mark, that was it.  Just needed to get the Headunit and Phatbox talking, like it was when they first met.  Thanks.
Still haveing trouble with the hack, but that is in another forum...
