VIOT won't install on Converted Keg

I have an converted VW box that I'm trying to install VIOT on. I have a Kenwood keg with VIOT and love it. I have an installation code. I can get the plugin to load on the DMS, but I can get it to load on the phatbox.

I don't know how to tell what the problem is. I've tried a dozen times and I just won't work. For some reason though since I've installed the converted box it has been annoucing the play list titles. I don't know it this has anything to do with viot on installing.

I've followed the instaruction on the wiki to the letter and I still can't get it to install on the box.

Hopefully someone can help me trouble shoot this problem.

I have not. I don't even know what it is. All I've done is load the kenwood firmware. and I"m using a real DMS.

You can't load it on a non-kenwood keg, they check the lot ID. If it doesn't match the Kenwood lot ID it won't let you install....

he said in the first post he followed the wiki instructions on how to do it.

I am not sure but I think you have to have hacked your box for the wiki article to work..

the box doesn't have to be hacked for that to work... if you turn up the logging using the level 10 debug rc.sh available from http://downloads.phathack.com/bushing/rc_pairs.zip it'll tell you if it's trying to install it

remove plugins.dat to have it try to reinstall

Here's the level 1 log. I'll post a link to the level 10 log but it is a HUGE file 102MB. I don't really know what I'm looking at but it seems that there is a hardware difference between the kenwood and VW box that is preventing the install.

There should be two files that start with boxid in the name.. please post the contents of each file in a reply. but before you do that.. delete the two files.. and put the DMS back in your phatbox.. play a few songs.. shut it down and then get the files off the DMS.

I changed the lot code to 2201 and pmm installed the plugin on the dms.

use debug level 10 instead of 1, I think it gives you a little more info on the CPUID

You didn't change anything but the lot code when you installed it right? and the last box it was in was that box?

The link to the level 10 log is below. It's too big to post. Yes The DMS used in the converted bos to convert it and then I tried to install VIOT. It has been used in my keg but not for some time.

If I hit scan it turns on the play list scan mode. VIOT/SSA is not enabled.

I assume you have 2 phatboxes/kegs etc and are you using the same code for both?

I had a similar problem when my keg was replaced under warranty, my original VIOT key installed ok, but did the same as yours on the new keg (absolutely nothing), I emailled Phatnoise support with my original order details and they sent me a new key for VIOT which now works fine.

This is their reply:

Thank you for using the Kenwood Music Keg! The VIOT license is only good
for one Music Keg. You must reinstall the VIOT plugin to your new Music
Keg. Your new plugin code is:

When you activate VIOT for your KEG, the following process occurs:

1. You load the DMS on your computer.
2. In PMM, you "activate" VIOT using the code that Phatnoise gave you.
3. PMM communicates with PhatNoise to validate the code, and writes an activation key onto the DMS.
4. You insert the DMS into your Keg.
5. The Keg reads the VIOT activation key, and then erases it (I beleive).

This means that you can't use the same code to activate VIOT on multiple Kegs - it's a one-shot process. Also, if you insert your DMS into a different Keg _before_ inserting it into the one you want to activate, then the wrong Keg will get activated. Simple enough to fix - swap the Kegs. But still and issue to be aware of.
